Dentist, Lead of Clinical Innovation
Dr. Bahar Esmaili, DDS
Dr. Esmaili grew up in Iran and immigrated to the United States at the age of 20 to pursue her dream of becoming a doctor. After graduating with honors from the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine in 2009, she continued her training through extensive advanced education in craniofacial pain, TMJ disorders, airway development, and the relationship between oral health and whole-body wellness.
Her clinical approach is rooted in a simple but powerful belief: the mouth is not an isolated system. The way we breathe, sleep, posture, chew, swallow, and move are all deeply connected. For Dr. Esmaili, dentistry is not only about teeth — it is about understanding how the jaw, airway, facial structure, muscles, joints, and nervous system work together to influence a person’s health, comfort, and quality of life.
Dr. Esmaili is one of only 24 North American consultants serving on 3M’s Council of Innovative Dentistry. She also serves on the educational committee for the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain.
Known for her thoughtful and educational approach, Dr. Esmaili is passionate about helping patients understand the “why” behind their symptoms. She believes that when patients can see the bigger picture of their health, they are better equipped to make confident, informed decisions about their care.
In addition to her dental training, Dr. Esmaili is a certified personal trainer with a focus on posture correction. This unique background gives her a deeper appreciation for the body as an interconnected system — where head and neck posture, jaw joint alignment, facial muscle tone, breathing patterns, and even gait can all influence one another.
Today, Dr. Esmaili’s work is centered on helping patients and practitioners recognize the profound relationship between oral function, facial development, airway health, posture, and whole-body wellness. Her mission is to help people see the mouth not as an isolated part of the body, but as a vital gateway to health, function, and vitality.
